I've been writing and blogging about eco and therapy stuff for years, but this is my first full length book. It brings lots of that experience together in a satirical, bawdy, fantasy, sci-fi, new-age romp through our dystopian collapsing industrial present into a vision of a sustainable future... a crazy book for our crazy times...

Since about 2006, I've been blogging about my adventures travelling and working on eco projects around the UK and Portugal. (That stuff's mostly on Ian's Eco Blog). Exploring what a sustainable way of life might be like has been fascinating and a lot of fun. We could live in a low impact, sustainable way if we really wanted to, but it would involve radical change. I've been thinking recently about how to get the ideas and principles behind it all out in a more entertaining way, addressing some of the other issues of our times too...

BIRTH OF THE MONKEY WRENCH KID

So that made me think about writing it all up in a more graphic novel sort of style, with larger than life, sexy, funny, exaggerated characters. Then I mixed in some of my experience from the world of complementary therapy, with a bit of absurd, surreal, bizarre humour, new age fantasy... and anything else that popped up...

BAWDY SATIRICAL ROMP

It's a crazy romp through our crazy times... we follow our inept, bewildered, narcoleptic hero, Danny, aka the Monkey Wrench Kid, on a hilarious irreverent romp through the Total Collapse of Everything. In spite of his best accidental efforts to bring about mayhem he emerges from dystopian Foulburgh into a sustainable future. There is a message behind it all: that we can live sustainably... it's a very different way of life to our industrial way though...
